Unveiling of The Maple Leaf Forever Tree at the Ontario Science Centre. This sculpture was created by the Ontario Wood Carvers Association from part of the silver maple tree that inspired Alexander Muir’s 1867 song “The Maple Leaf Forever.” Featuring 35 hand-carved leaves, each depicting a historically-significant person, place or event in Toronto’s history, the sculpture is the result of more than 10,000 volunteer carving hours.
