2025 🚄 Toronto Zoo Unveils Restored Scarborough SRT Car | Historic TTC Transit Exhibit

The Toronto Zoo proudly celebrates a historic milestone with the unveiling of a fully restored Scarborough Rapid Transit (SRT) car, now permanently on display as part of the new Tundra Zoomobile Station. This exciting addition pays tribute to the long-standing connection between the TTC, the City of Toronto, and the residents of Scarborough, many of whom grew up riding the iconic blue-and-white SRT.

The event brought together TTC partners, local officials, VIP guests, and members of the community to honour the legacy of the Scarborough RT (Line 3), which operated from 1985 until its closure in July 2023. For nearly four decades, the SRT provided fast and reliable service across Scarborough’s eastern corridor, connecting Kennedy Station to McCowan along 6.4 km of elevated guideway. Now, this beautifully refurbished SRT car has found a new home at the Toronto Zoo, transforming into a nostalgic and interactive guest experience. Beginning early December, the restored car will serve as an accessible Zoomobile Station stop, allowing visitors to step inside, explore its interior, and reconnect with the memories of a beloved transit era.
