The Ontario government is welcoming a new investment of over $30 million by Golden Windows Ltd., an Ontario-based manufacturer of windows and doors, to boost the companyβs manufacturing capacity at its Kitchener facility.
βOntario is the manufacturing powerhouse of the nation, and new investments by domestic manufacturers demonstrate that our government is fostering the right conditions for growth and more good-paying jobs for our talented workforce,β said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. βWith a long history in Kitchener, we are proud to support the expansion of local companies like Golden Windows Ltd. and thank them for continuing to invest in their workers and community.β
With this investment, Golden Windows Ltd. will build a new 240,000 square-foot facility, allowing the company to introduce new product lines to supply Torontoβs high-rise construction market. The expansion will generate an additional 50 good-paying jobs in Kitchener, further boosting the local economy. In support of this investment, Ontario is providing Golden Windows Ltd. with over $4.5 million in funding through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF) stream of the Regional Development Program (RDP).
βGolden Windows would like to express our deep appreciation for the support we have received from the province of Ontario,β said Paul Kreutner, President of Golden Windows Ltd. βIn this high interest rate environment, this access to capital will allow us to take our production processes to the next level of automation, efficiency, and quality.β
Ontario is investing $180 million through its Regional Development Program to help manufacturers across the province grow while supporting distinct regional priorities. To date, Ontario has supported more than 130 projects through the program, leveraging more than $1.8 billion in new investments and helping to create over 3,400 jobs.
Applications for the next intake round of Regional Development funding remain open until September 26, 2024.
Quick Facts
β’ The government launched the RDP for eastern and southwestern regions of Ontario in November 2019. Through this program, businesses and municipalities can get financial support and guided access to a range of complementary services and supports.
β’ In 2022, the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness (AMIC) stream of the RDP was launched to support advanced manufacturers across the province. Ontario is now providing additional funds to enhance the AMIC stream that will help more firms with the financial support and tools needed to improve competitiveness, while strengthening essential supply chains.
β’ As part of the 2023 Ontario Budget, the government introduced the Ontario Made Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit, which provides a 10 per cent refundable Corporate Income Tax credit to help local manufacturers lower their costs, invest in workers, innovate and become more competitive.
